NEWS FROM FWSA

Coffee Mornings

The monthly coffee mornings held over the school year have been very popular – a sociable way to meet other parents/carers, enjoy a chat and sample some home-made cakes. Money raised totals £134.27 and will go to FWSA funds. Thank you to anyone who has helped out or contributed cakes, and thanks especially to Carol Sapsed for her continued support.

IMPORTANT NEWS!

There is still some income and expenditure not yet accounted for, but an approximate figure has now been reached as to how much was raised at this year's Midsummer Ball.  £10,000!!!!!!

This is a record so well done and thank you to everyone involved, and to all those who spent their hard earned money on the night.

VOLUNTEERS & CONTRIBUTIONS PLEASE!

Wraxall Church Fete will take place on Saturday 26th July 11:30am-3:30pm on the School Field.  The school will participate this year by providing the following for the children:  a stall selling sweets, ice pops & drink; a card game, a peg game and icing biscuits.   If you are able to run a stall (even for half an hour), please speak to Ruth , Tony (yr 4 parents), or leave a message with Nicola in the office.  We would also appreciate contributions of:  jelly beans, other sweets appropriate     to the American theme of the Fete, popcorn and “Simpsons” ice pops (from Iceland ).  Please leave in the box by the school office.  Thanks!

NEWS FROM WASPS

NEWS FROM ALL SAINTS

Request for Volunteers

John Chapman is hoping to get together a working party to repair the worst of the ruts in the Church Car Park and reduce the risk of pedestrians tripping or vehicles grounding. The Parochial Church Council has agreed to pay for “Type 1” ballast material and John is hoping to borrow a “Wacker Plate” Compactor to solidify the ballast. But he needs volunteer labour to help move tipped ballast round the car park (by wheelbarrow unless anyone has free access to a better solution!) and to help “drive” the Compactor. If you are prepared to help at some time over the school holidays, or would like to know more about what’s involved, please phone John on 07980 549258 and let him know dates you might be available so he can work out the best date overall - compatible with availability of the Compactor.

This is an opportunity to exercise those muscles, without paying the gym, and to improve a key facility used by the school. There is otherwise no prospect of improvement to this car park before completion of building for the Cross Tree Centre…

CHURCH FETE - SATURDAY 26TH JULY

Reverend Rosey would be very pleased to receive any good quality fashion accessories, e.g. scarves, bags, belts, jewellery, hats, etc or small clothes items for her 'Rosey's Treasures' stall at the fete.  Thank you.

Wraxall Church fete Saturday 26th July 11am to 3pm

The Mothers Union Stall and Afternoon teas are looking for donations of homemade cakes (No fresh cream please). Anyone wishing to help towards either of the stalls can bring their contributions on the day of the fete from 8am onwards. Many Thanks, Jean Cobb.

Well, another Wraxall Midsummer Ball is over and we think you'll agree that this one was the best so far!  The rain didn't dampen anyone's spirits - in fact, it made the walk to the loos a bit more exciting!

The marquee looked as stunning as ever, the quizzes got everyone's competitive juices going and we all wanted to try and win the 42' plasma TV.  Tony Miles did us proud again running the auction and bids were flying left, right and centre!  The food, as always, was very tasty, and once the dancing got underway there was no holding us back!

Lorraine Payne would like to thank her dedicated team for the months of work that went into the preparations for the event, the hours put in on the day, and the day after with all the clearing up.  Without this team the event would never happen.

Lorraine also deserves a particular mention - she organised the first ball with a long term vision in mind; to raise money for Wraxall School and also do good in Africa .  Now that the first cheque has been handed over her dream is starting to be realised and it's thanks to her commitment and dedication that this event has become such a stunning success.  Thank you Lorraine from everyone who came this year and had such a good time.

NOTE:  Lorraine has a selection of black umbrellas which were left behind on Friday.  It is hard to tell one from the other, so if you would like to arrange to identify your umbrella please contact Lorraine on  01275 462818.  Any which are not claimed by the end of the school year will be donated to charity.
